I'm looking to perchase an E320 W210 and have been told that the first ones with the 5speed auto can give you trans problems.
is this just rubbish or is there some truth in it
Ive heard the the 5speed is way better. It is an adaptive transmission which means it adapts to how u drive. The car uses less fuel than the 4 speed also apparently.

I would recommend the 5 speed... I have a '96 with the 4 speed and my mom has a '97 (E420) with a 5 speed. I feel like I could use an extra speed to help with fuel economy mostly, 3000 RPM on the thruway seems a little excessive to me and I think the 5 speed takes care of that. The winter/summer mode programming is also a nice addition with the 5 speed.
