I was able to acquire a Aux cable from my dealership so i could do the most affordable i-pod install immediately. Very simple to do. For the record, I have a Audio 20 system, with a CD changer in the glove box.
I got the cable, A 210 440 50 05, for $40US. I installed it in the parking space at my conduminium using only a small flathead screw driver.
Here are pics I took. I started taking pics after I had the pieces removed - I suck - but hey, I thought of it afterwards and documented it from there, so I hope this post helps!
First step is to remove the panel on the right of the glove box. There are clips on the side of the panel which is rearward on the car. The side forward on the dar, along the doorseal have tabs in them. You want to pull on the left side (the side rearward) to pop those clips, and then pull the whole piece about an inch rearward to slide the tabs out.
Second, remove the doorsill plastic. This pulls straight up. It clicks and pops, but should be a straight forward pop-out.
Third, remove the kick-paned near the passengers right foot. This panel has a small hex-head screw right in the middle of it holding it in. There is a cover on the screw that conceals it. I used a small flat head scew driver to remove that cover, and it also fit the crosswise gap in the hex head. Wrong tool for the job, but it worked to remove the screw. There are also two metal clips holding this panel onto the car at the door sill area. Pull back the rubber by lifting it off the car at the curve from the sill. You have to remove those clips as from what I can tell, any other way will break the plastic of the panel. The clips are attached to the panel, so I used the same screw driver to pop them off the car, and the panel with it.
Fourth, open up the wiring harness casing in the door sill. You will see the white harness where the aux cable plugs in. In my car the harness was installed so that I had to pull it up and plug the cable into the bottom side of it.
Plug the cable into the harness, and then run it up the side kick-panel area to the glovebox side.
Fifth step is to remove the round panel blank where the harness (phono plug) will go. There are 4 tabs hoplding it intoplace. Using my universal flat head screwdriver, I broke the tabs from the inside (carpet covered) of the glove, towards the out side. That round piece falls out. Discard it, and snap the phono side of the cable in.
Sixth step, put everything back. And enjoy!
