Standard Headlights to Xenon

Hi again all --

What exactly would be involved in replacing my stock headlights to use the Xenon bulbs? Is it just a matter of changing out the bulbs, or does it involve ballasts, wiring, etc?

It's for a 2005 CLK 320.

Thanks!

Its Best to change out the Complete Headlight assy to a Xenon Headlight assy.

Also the car will need to be version coded Xenon Present via the Star Diag aka SDS

As The Headlight (XENON) has a different Lens/projector/cut off light pattern plate inside the assy.

The aftermarket kits look cool but are not good for the light pattern also most require cutting into the wire harness and mounting the ignitor/balsat near the headlight

I Bought my OE Xenons from MBENZNL.com for the 209

Not true. Please do not mislead people if you did not install aftermarket HID such as MTEC HID which requires no re program XENON present.

My aftermarket HID kit did not require re program via Star Diag. and cut off light is the same as OEM halogen projector and much brighter, BTW, no wire harness cutting, just take out the bulb and plug in the kit harness.

This is primarily for Mark, but if anyone has anything to add, spit it out! I have an 07 550 with halogens, I bought a set of new oem bi-xenon and would like to know what is involved in making the car ready to install them, aside from the recode. I realize the bumper cover etc. must be removed, but I'm looking for info on what parts are needed to use them as active, self leveling. Mark, when you changed yours did you need any new wiring harness replacements/ splices etc to have them fully function, or did you not bother with that aspect?
Any tips or a how to will be helpful.
Thanks,
Tom

i second that. I have a $62 kit from eBay and it works with no problem. Simple plug & play and no wire cutting, no warning lights.
