Just picked up my barely (whoo!) used 2005 CLK 320 yesterday, and I have a few questions. Mine comes without the Command System, but of course has all the buttons, etc., for the telephone. When I scroll through the Steering Display, when it gets to phone, of course, it says "No Phone" or something to that effect. I would like to just use my regular bluetooth phone with the system so that it integrates into the car''s system.
Is there a dealer installed option or something I can buy third party? I believe (according to the sticker) it is pre-wired for the phone system. There is no docking station in the console, but the wires are definitely there.
There are only a few phones that will work with the built in system, and I think they are all out of prodution. do some searches here, and in the general mercedes section. There is info out there, I just dont recall it.
Same: My 2005/2006 CLK350 is prewired, but the adapater for my Motorola cellphone costs US$750. I don't think so! In fact most of the accessories like Sirus radio costs more than is reasonable for the kind of technology. Anyone know of an after-market upgrade source, or, is the wiring diagram and interface specs available?
I think I understand this now. If there is no port in the clove box, then you need a lot of parts.
No port: there is about $1200 worth of adaptors and processors (silver box) that need to be purchased and then installed to then allow a 1) phone specific cradle or 2) a BT PUCK to install in the car. The "ore wiring" is there for those initial features. That cradle or puck is another $400 on top of the other stuff + labor.
A bit pricey, but you get pretty full functioning with the MF screen / steering wheel buttons.
