This is a warning to any 'new' car owners about the corrosion that can occur between your alloy wheels and the wheel hub. Seemingly, it's a chemical reaction, but it could be prevented by the light use of grease, which M-B have clearly failed to do.
Until last week, my 2004 CLK had never had it's wheels removed since it left the factory. This image shows what has happened at one front wheel hub - this after much work to remove the surface rust. All the wheels were stuck tight too.
So if your car is to be a keeper - get those wheels off, and inspect your hubs now...
