Hi,
I constanstly have the warning "Lock driver's seat!" I've checked the seat and it is locked in securely. On top of that when I try to move the seat to access the back of the car, it only partly folds forward, the back rest folds forward but the rest of the seat doesn't lift up and move forward.
Because it thinks it's not locked, the electrics don't work so my wife isn't able to use it as it won't go into her posistion (not a bad thing!!)
I've checked all the plugs underneath the seat and they are all in place and tried moving the seat back and forth but to no avail, so I'm in a bit of a loss?!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
Chris

Chris - I'm confused by your comment above...
I do not think that the front seats are supposed to lift up. The lower part of the seat is securely fixed to the rails. The seat backs do tilt forward, and for maximum space you have to slide the seats forward. I have no idea why the seat switches aren't working for you. Does the headrest position switch work?
My comments are about the coupe. The cabriolet may be different.

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion, whan I say lift up, what I mean is that the seats go forward in 2 stages, firstly the back rest goes forward and then the whole seat lifts on hinges and moves forward. The passenger seat does this and works fine. Funny enough the head rest only work intermittently but that has been like that for a while!
In my 2005 CLK the front seatbacks only move forward to allow rearseat entry. It pivots where the bottom cushion meets the back cusion. The bottom of the seat is fixed to the rails.
I've seen the "lock seat" display but only when that seatback is not fully locked inplace. It has to click solidly There must be a bad switch/sensor if you are sure your seatback is fully in place.
As for the hinging forward thing, you've got me there.

Lol, maybe I have dodgy seats! Try it next time you get in your car, as you pull the lever to move the seatbacks, watch the bottom seat, it will lift slightly and move up and forwards.....my drivers seat doesn't do that now!
I've checked all the plugs underneath the seat by removing them and putting them back in again but nothing - would anyone know which switch it would be or just how I can fix the problem...

I'll have to watch for that - I thought I did watch for it but I didnt see it. I get the car back from service tomorrow so I'll look.

Because none of the electric seat adjustments work, I'm unable to move the seat back and forth
I found this on a car review website: "Both leg and headroom are more cramped, and, while the front seats fold forward and lift, access to the back isn’t as easy."
I knew I wasn't going mad!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
While I cannot help you and your sensor (that's what I think it is) problem, I do want to thank you.
If I pull the release to tilt the seat forward and then actually push the seat forward more, it tilts way up and moves forward. Getting in the rear is far far easier!!! Well, it's my 9th day of owning the car so I suppose I'll be picking up these bits of info!
