2007 CLK convertible .... FEW QUESTIONS can anyone help ?

New to the forums, Just bought myself a 2007 CLK 200k elegance convertible. This is a UK supplied car so not sure if this makes a difference. Have a few questions and hopefully i can get some answers !

1) The car has sat nav/command however the maps disc was missing, can the sat nav's play copies of the original DVD ?

2) The command unit has a video option yet i cannot play any DVD's on it.... is there anyway to unlock the DVD MOVIE playing capabilities so i can watch films on it ?

3) I need a spare key....(new design 3 button with the chrome edges) is it possible to buy one from eBay and re-program it ?

Your car is 3 years newer than mine, so my experience will not be much use. However, I would address some of your queries to your M-B dealership - I've found them very helpful.

Re 1. I doubt if DVD copies will work. My Satnav is CD based, and an updated CD is around £100.

Re 2. It's not quite comparable, but my COMAND has a TV feature - but the TV module is not fitted. I have read a DIY post here about unlocking COMAND. A search should find it, but it does not work on my version.

Re 3. I wouldn't go the eBay route & I have no idea how you would program it.

I also needed a spare key 2 years ago. The dealer failed to get it from the original owner, and it occurred to me that using this key my car could be nicked.... But if you go to M-B they can cancel that key's code and issue you with another key suitably programmed to your car. Costs about £100.

1.Your car most likely will not play copied discs. Check ebay for the real set. I purchased mine for $173USD when the dealership wanted $500+USD.

2. My car does not have the option to unlock DVD in motion but I believe the european model command navi's do have that option. It is popular to see C owners trade their US commands for euro just to have that option. I however will not go through the trouble.

3. Ebay keys are not able to be programed by the dealership. You need to purchase a key directly from the dealership then they send it off to be programed. Avoid they ebay keys as tempting as they are.

The A & B services are not much more than an oil change, plus very basic inspections. You can get the (special) oil & filter for about £100, and do it yourself... Remove the wheels, and take a look at the brake pads. That's about it. What's your mileage?
