Hi Folks, i'm new to this forum, was wondering if anyone has experienced similar problem with ticking noise on CLK. I have a 2003 avantgarde c270cdi, noise seems to be comming from behind radio./ac unit. Presents when key put into ignition, stops after about 5 seconds, then starts again when ignition turned on, again lasts about 5 seconds. Also happens when engine is turned of. Have been looking through forums and seems to be related to air blender motor??? Car is still under local dealer warranty so we are both keen to get it resolved ASAP. Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the usual W203 problem: Stepper motor arm broken. Stepper motor is good, but arm broke.
This usually happens (W203 Chassis) when you have had the battery replaced, or your battery lost all power, and the service tech did not go in and resynchronize the A/C stepper motors.
If this is not performed, the stepper motors will remember their last position and keep turning from there. Most times, the motor breaks the arm, or one of the blend doors gets stuck, which eventually, if not resolved, will burn out the stepper motor.
All in all, it is under warranty, once the tech does a code retrieval for the A/C system, the SDS will prompt to test the normal position of the stepper motors. If the arm is broken, the rapid ticking noise WILL be heard and the SDS will report which motor did not relay its normal position.

Interesting comment. However this is a W209.
Could you explain what the stepper motor function is? And what happens when the motor arm is broken?
I have disconnected the battery on my CLK many times without encountering this problem.
I have a simular problem but I can hear it on the driver side behind the dashboard (Flaping/Thumping). My CLK 500 is at MB service right now. Once I find anything out I let you know. I heard that they use the same Stepper motor in the W209 from the W203, from another person was saying. I keep you posted.
