My New CLK!..... and the horror story that comes with it.
I was very excited to have purchased this beautiful 2005 CLK 320. It was a gorgeous car with navigaiton, heated seats, Xenon lights, a power sunshade, and all the other great standard features of course. It looked brand new, and only was still under factory warranty.
Anyways, i took the car in to the dealer, and our service advisor made the comment: "you know this has been in an accident right?" long story short, the car had been in a very bad accident, it was not reported though, and not any any DMV or dealer records, basically the kept it off the books and fixed it privately. So we called the seller and told them either we stop payment and give the car back, no harm no foul, or we will take legal action. Thankfully they were cooperative, but what a hassle.
I will always miss that car, it was beautiful! :crybaby

Just wondering, where was the car hit? Most of the time you can easily spot body work when the body panels don't line up perfectly like from the factory.
even with a considerable price adjustment probably not, there are so many problems associated with salvage cars, plus it would have void the warranty.
and the worst damage was in the back, but since most of the body panels had been taken off they pretty much corresponded with each other, it wasnt really until after we talked to the service advisor that things started standing out.
i had the same issue with my CLK55 AMG Cabriolet. It was a MB CPO with 19K miles. After about 6 months i noticed the bumper paint literally peeling off. took it to my local dealer (selling dealer is about 3 hours away). my local dealer said they can't warranty it because it was repainted (car was in accident but carfax is clean).
i contected selling dealer and they said they will do nothing about it. contacted MB corp. and they said they will do nothing as dealers are responsible for CPO car warranty.
MB left me holding the bag. now in the process of suing selling dealer and MB. sucks that u spend $50K on a car and just get ripped off these days. great car but that kind of treatment means this is the last MB product i buy.
i would hold the dealer responsible, not Mercedes. They do make great products, and it is true the the dealers are responsible solely for certifying their CPO cars. but what a hassle, i feel your pain haha
