p Notes on repairs to brake system AH42.00-P-0003-01A
p The SBC system must be deactivated on a
mandatory basis using STAR DIAGNOSIS
before working on the operating unit or
hydraulic unit.
Brake lining replacement and brake fluid
change must not be carried out simultaneously.
Before working on the SBC brake system the
sequence of the SBC self-test must be
prevented, as this leads to the brake pistons
moving out automatically.
When working on the SBC brake system the
brake pedal must not be pressed under any
circumstances as this leads to the brake
pistons moving out automatically.
Inadvertent operation of the brake pedal must
be prevented reliably by suitable measures.
When working on the SBC brake system no
persons or animals must stay in the vehicle
i Before starting work it is absolutely essential
to read through the complete work description
as the operations have to be completed in
rapid succession. To carry out the operations
correctly a second person must be present as
within the work procedure certain signals
cannot be seen by one person
i If the work procedure is revised or if the time
requirements cannot be adhered to, the
operations cannot be carried out correctly
1 Position the vehicle on the two-pillar or fourpillar
lifting platform
2 Open driver-side side window
3 Switch off all the vehicle's electrical
consumers and remove the key from the
ignition switch
i Vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go:
Press starting-stop button repeatedly until the
ignition is switched off.
Disable the SBC self-test
4 Close the vehicle doors and have the vehicle
locked globally for a minimum of 30 seconds
(t1)
i Vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go:
remove Keyless Go cards or key from the
vehicle and store outside of transmitter range
(for at least 2 minutes) .
During this time the run-on of the SBC brake
system elapses.
5 Unlock the vehicle for a minimum of 15
seconds (t2)
i From now on the brake pedal must not be
pressed anymore.
An SBC self-test may run during this time.
6 Lock vehicle i in order to prevent people getting in.
If the engine hood is unlocked when the
vehicle is locked, the alarm system is triggered.
i 15 seconds after locking the following
operations can be carried out in the wheel
brake area:
D Replace front and rear brake pads,
D Detach/attach front and rear brake disks,
D Remove/install parking brake shoes
Once the operations are completed the
application routine must be activated
i The vehicle must not be unlocked under
any circumstances during the work on the
brake system..
The brake pad application routine is started
by unlocking and the brake pads are possibly
applied.

Activate application routine of brake pads
i The hydraulic unit temperature must be a
maximum of 80 °C
7 Unlock vehicle
8 Raise the vehicle until all the wheels can be
rotated freely
9 Ignition On (Z2) i Through the open side window.
Vehicles with code (889) Keyless Go :
Do not activate any Keyless-Go functions for
the following operations.
10 Ignition Off (Z0), wait for 1 to 5 seconds t2
and switch ignition On again (Z2)
i Do not start engine!
The ignition remains switched on for the
further steps.
11 Rotate the rear left wheel quickly and evenly
in the running direction
i Rotate the wheel for a minimum of 3
seconds (t4) (1 to 2 revolution (s), then bring
the wheel to a stop.
12 Rotate the front left wheel quickly and evenly
in the running direction
i The front left wheel must be rotated a
maximum of 60 seconds (t5) after the rear left
wheel.
Rotate the wheel (1 to 2 revolution(s) until it is
braked automatically.
Flashing on and off 3 times confirms
successful activation. #
The brake lining application routine is started.
The front and rear brake pads are applied
several times.
After Y 50 seconds the
brake lining application is ended.
13 Lower the vehicle and switch off ignition (Z0)
14 Start the engine and depress the brake pedal
5 to 10 times
i If a fault message is displayed in the
multifunction display: #
Repeat activation of application routine. If the
error message continues to be shown in the
multifunction display after repeating the

WILL THIS DO THE TRICK? OR ..................... THANKS!!
I do not think your CLK has "active braking" does it?
This would be a feature where you can let go of brakes after stopping on a hill and brakes will hold car after you take your foot off the pedal...
Did you replace the sensors on each caliper?
If they are worn they will still cause a "short" which triggers the warning lamp.
Not worth reusing considering the price.
These are the sensors I am talking about:
