Please HELP! CLK steering issues - MB has no idea how to fix

Hi,

I am writing because I have no real hopes anymore of getting my CLK to work. I bought a CLK 350 in Nov 2006, new from a Sydney dealership. I have been away for Jan & Feb 2008, and now have returned to a car which isn't the same.

I had been driving it for about a week after being away, when the steering pump failed. I drove it approximately 800m to the dealership (lucky they were close). Where they told me the pump had failed, and they would replace it.

When I got the car back I had been driving it for a few days when I the steering would just harden up from time to time. This was quiet dangerous, and I took it back to the dealership and they had trouble getting the issue to come back on demand. It just randomly does it.

MB decided to replace the steering rack, because after 3 weeks of testing my car they finally got the car to fault. I got the car back, and it's still stuffing up. Every now and then the car stiffens up. The biggest problem is that when it does stiffen up, once I put the car into park again it seems to clear the problem.

Today I got in my car and the steering pump is making noise, and it seems that I have some terminal steering related issue.

All the simple things have been done, new pump, new steering rack, new lines, new oil... So i'm lost for ideas. So is MB. They acknowledge that I probably have a fault, however unless I can show them it they won't do a thing.

I just want my car to work! I come from a massive MB family, and just ordered a C63 replacement, which is 12 months away. However I need to drive my current car. Any help would be great. Thanks guys...

best thing to do, honestly is raise hell. no dealer wants sto spend time and money to fix your car. squeaky wheel gets the oil sorta speak. also, you can directly contact the Mercedes Benz Customer Relations and sort the problem with them, a friend of ours was in a similar situation with a faulty seat belt pretensioner. She went straight to the top, and they ended up working with the dealer and completely fixed the car for free.
