Advice on buying CLK55?

Greetings,

I'm trying to decide whether to get an '03 or '04 CLK55. I'd look for one with less than 30k miles, but coming from a Lexus (GS 400), I'm a bit concerned about reliability and maintenance costs.

Does anyone have any advice about getting an '03 or '04? I don't want something that I'll need to throw $2k at just for brakes and 30k service. I'm used to paying $20 (and bringing my own oil) for oil changes with Lexus or Toyota dealerships.

Is there anything I should look for (certified perhaps?), or should I just stay away from a 5-year old AMG? Thanks in advance!

i have a 2005 CLK55 AMG Cabriolet. I picked a 2005 for 2 main reasons, upgraded Command Navigation (DVD vs CD in earlier cars) and 18" wheels/tires (vs. 17" in earlier cars)

In that case, stay away from Mercedes, unless you are happy with DIY oilchanges.
