I'm considering putting springs my car and I'm wondering if I go with the H&R's, do any other suspension changes need to be done to keep the wheels straight?
Mine is CLK 200K. I change the OEM springs with H&R last year. 25K kms so far.
Last month I change also the shocks with yellow KONI's.
OEM shocks + H & R
Better filling of the car specialy during cornering and braking. Nice and smooth on the city roads. On the highway with high speeds (in Greece isn't so resrict, so you can push the car to the limit) I felt the stearing lighter than the normal.
KONI shocks (softer adjustment) + H & R + spacers 16mm
It's another car. It's still a Mercedes but you feel it like a small, fast hatcback.
Personaly I prefer this setup cose I feel the car sorter and it's reaction to my comands are sharper. no discussion about cornering and braking. On the highway is stable and the steering is haviest than the previews setup, so more accurate. You just lock in a point and the car react like a cart. Thats very important cose we are talking for a big and have coupe.
BUT. on the city roads the riding are not so smooth. You can hear sometimes the suspension on the road bumps. It's quite hard. I think that the first setup is preferable for the normal driver, depends ofcourse of the way you drive.
As I said I prefer the second one as all my previews rids were hot hatches and this setup is closest to what I like.
Hope to be helpfull mate.
