i just got Mccullahs HID coversion kit for my 03 CLK320. however i'm having problems with it, my computer keeps sayin that my low beams are messed up. And they dont stay lit, always flickering. If anyone can shed some light on this for me please do. Another question, i was looking to purchase a Pioneer avicZ-1 double-dash Nav. WIll this fit in my car?

Not an expert but also interested in the Xenon conversion for my CLK 500... Did you have the Dealer Service Dept. turn on the Xenon option after you did the conversion...? Also, what do you think of the McCullough kit...?

I just had theMccullahs HID installed on my 03 clk55. works well but had the same exact problem. what you have to do to prevent the malfunctions from popping up is:
1)turn the key to the 'on' position, dont start the car just yet.
2)turn on your HID's
3)wait ten seconds
4)then start the car.
If you want to avoid all this there's a wiring kit you can get for less than $100, or like the man above said you can have the dealer activate the Xenon option, I've heard that from others as well.
hello...im curious...i also ahve the same problem...is turning on the HID for 10 seconds before starting the car actually fix the problem? are you doing this? i hope this would solve it temporarily until i can get someone to reset my computer to xenon present...the damn dealers wouldnt do it (i dont know why when its MY car) anyway, hope to hear from you
I heard that having HID's were illegal? is it true? I wanted to put HIDs on my CLK as well but I wouldnt want to be pulled over becuase of them. =(. I was recommended getting a single beam HID at Single Beam. Since I figure you guys might know more about it than I would...I was wondering your recommendation on that. Thanks!
did you guys put the hid's on our stock halogen headlamps or did you change your headlamps to the xenon/projector head lamps? I am looking into changing my headlamps to projectors before getting the hid kit
I don't know much...but supposedly the flickering comes from not taking power directly from the battery via some wiring harness. Check out HID Planet Forums (google that), and they talk about why the McCullough version flickers and how to fix it. You also might need to put a resistor in there if it says "bulb out." The xenons take less wattage, so the car thinks the light went dead b/c it isn't pulling as much wattage as before. A resistor will fix this, but I'm not sure about finding out what size.
