Hi I have just bought a 05 320 cab and was doing some research on fitting an ipod and came across this Mercedes IPOD Retrofit
looks like a good site and cheaper than main dealer. Has anyone used them?
Alfie, the owner is usually on one of the UK Mercedes forums and is happy to answer any questions. I think they are very knowledgeable about COMAND etc.
I have a 2004 clk55 AMG and am looking for a solution to control the iPod part of my iPhone- hopefully a kit that will charge it while palying. I do have the COMMAND/ NAV system (cd version)...
I have an 04 CLK 500 with COMAND. You should have a key labeled SVC. Press that, then settings, then you'll see the AUX button. I listen to my iPod connected to the jack in the glove box with a long-ish cable that I run under the dash so I can control the iPod right in front of me. This, of course, does not offer iPod integration, nor does it charge the iPod as the integration kit would, but I'll save the several hundred dollars, thank you, and control it myself.
I did the same thing. With the old fiber-optic Mercedes-Benz system, only the cars that came with COMAND had the Aux outlet for a quick, cheap ($10) and easy fix to "install" the iPod to the car. Of course, as previously discussed, this method does not charge the iPod, nor does allow steering wheel controls or song/artist listing on the screen.
I clicked on the iCarKits.com link and saw the price for the kit for a 2003-2004 CLK is $700. Thanks, but no thanks, my $10 method works just fine!
