NEED HELP: Have IPOD kit and want to self install in '05 CLK320
I have an '05 CLK320 cab. I purchased the IPOD Kit and would like to install it myself. The car is a lease, so I need to be very careful. Does anyone have or know where I can get good instructions on hooking this up in my car? I have no idea hot to take apart the dash, etc. I did for my brother's old 300E, but I am guessing things are little different now.

OK, nevermind... i was able to figure it out. Not too difficult of a job. I routed the iPod cable into the center console. If anyone has any questions on how to do it... feel free to email me.
RE: NEED HELP: Have IPOD kit and want to self install in '05 CLK320
My Dad works for MBNA, so I was able to get it at a discount ($230).
I have the basic stereo (non-command system). Here is the part number that I used to order the kit: B6 782 42 19. I would call a dealer or something before making the order just to be certain that it works.
The kit is very easy to install -- took me less than an hour. It doesn't come with directions... though there isn't much to it other than removing all the wood and electronics on the center console.
A word of caution though... I get a hissing sound that is pretty distinct in most of the music I play. It is not the MP3 quality, and has something to do with this kit. I am using an iPod mini (6gb). I read in another topic that this was corrected by swithcing to a 60gb iPod. I have not had the chance to verify this.
I don't feel that this kit is worth it's 299 retail price... not even the employee price that I got it for. Every so often it gets a little buggy and I need turn on and off my stereo unit to correct itself. I plan on making a complaint about the sound quality to mercedes, maybe there is something they can do.
RE: NEED HELP: Have IPOD kit and want to self install in '05 CLK320
I have Auxiliary input, came with the car, so I could not use steering wheel controls, and sound quality is not good at all.
Are you, guys, talking about IPod or Auxiliary input?
Are you able to control it from the steering wheel?
And do you know if there is a way to simplify an access to that thing? – Now I have to go through several steps to switch from radio to AUX and this is just too much.
There is an extra button on the unit (I have NAV) – is it possible to use it somehow?

The iPod kit from mercedes utilizes the steering wheel buttons and the auxiliary input (though not the terminal you currently use to plug your iPod into).
With my non-command unit... you hold down the CDC (cd changer) button for a moment and it switches to the AUX input. There was no auxilary input with the headunit (say like a mini stereo jack or RCA terminals). The iPod kit comes with a special wiring harness so the AUX feature on the head unit can be used.
I cannot speak for the command, but I believe it would have the same wiring harness.
I am in a similar position, I have seen the kits on sale on Ebay (around 190 Euros) but none of them seem to come with instructions. Could you e-mail them to me too.
Thanks
My local dealer actually referred me to a third party to supply and fit the kit, this third party have not responded to 4 requests to get this done, claiming that they are not able to source the actual kit.
