Warning Beep Go Away

[:(]Anyone have any luck with "turning off" the obnoxious 60-second shrill beep that my CLK500 with keyless go emits to "warn me to not forget my keys", whenever I shut off my car?

If I wanted a babysitter, I'd have purchased a Lexus. I realize that the beep is an attempt to remind absent minded idiots to take their keys.

Anyone else have this issue? This is a great car and I love Keyless Go. But, I hate this beep! I'm ready to rip apart my dash, but I'm not sure that would do much good!

Thanks.

RE: Warning Beep Go Away

The answer seems to be "No".

I have an '04 CLK320 Cab and the beep has been annoying me too. Last week, I took it to my dealer (the largest MB dealer in the world), and the service guy I use said that nobody had ever asked for this change before.

He sent out one of their techs with a computer console and he spent 20 minutes trying to see if there was some way to disable the beep. Can't be done.

The consensus seems to be that MB is worried about an owner suing them for the inconvenience of locking themselves out of the car if an MB dealer had disabled the warning.

I have keyless go, but have never hear a 'beep'. I tend to get out of the car when I shut off the engine and take the keys with me.

RE: Warning Beep Go Away

If you shut off the engine and leave the car with the keys in your pocket, the beep will occur until you're out and you close the door. If you shut off the engine and leave the door open for awhile before you vacate, the beep will go on continuously for about 1 minute until it finally ceases.

RE: Warning Beep Go Away

This also drives me crazy. The fact that it goes on beeping when I unlock the door and get IN to the car and it is telling me not to forget my key Before I even start it! The only thing I have figured out that stops it is to press the button on the pannel that adjusts the brightness and resets the miles. If anyone knows how to completely shut if off that would be great to know![:D]

Push one of the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and the beep stops.
