Software update for improved iPod connectability?

Hello, new member here.

I was wondering if it was possible to update the software/firmware in the radio/head unit.

Since I bought my new iPod a few years ago (3 gen iPod touch) the iPod wire cannot charge my iPod. It will play it and work with the interface perfectly, but I was wondering if it not charging is a software problem.

You need to buy an adapter. MBZ sells one, but I think this works, too:
