Hi.

I currently own a W209 Softop CLK240 with the VIN WDB2094612T025139.

When I wanted to open my soft top it wont fully open. It stops half way like 40% because the triangular left rear window dint fully went down like the right side one.

What would have cause the left rear triangular window to not fully go down ?

Anyone could provide me a diagram of the soft top system or limit switches ?

Thanks in advance.

OK

1. Does this rear side window go down correctly if you operate the normal window switches?

2. Have you tried 'gentle' assistance/pressure when the window starts to drop? You might have to remove some interior trim/lining to see what is going on inside.

3. Normal window up/down control uses via Hall effect sensors on the motor shaft whose revolutions are counted and stored in the window control module. If the battery gets disconnected the windows might need re-synchronising. Could that be your problem?

Hello.
Thanks for the reply.

It wouldn't go down fully even if i manually operate it on the driver side or the quarter glass side switch. The right side works perfectly.

I'll have a look at the inner trim and have a look and see whats hapening inside.

I'll also try re-syncing the window see if it works. Thanks!

Do you have any diagram of the W209 soft top switch location and troubleshooting from WIS?

Hi - you can delete that duplicate post using the 'edit' facility. :)

It seems to me that you have a faulty side window situation... and because the window will not completely drop, the roof opening program will not run.

So you need not worry too much about the limit switches that control the movement of bits of metal at the back. Did you go through the thread I listed in post 2 above. I identified a number of limit switches that are used to control the open /close sequence. Most have a page describing the addition/removal of the switch. It's too much for me to post all of it here, but OK if you isolate the one you suspect.

My guess is that once you correct your window problem, the roof will work OK.

I know. :) I think that you have misunderstood me here...

1. Go to my post #2 above.
2. On the second line there is a link to another thread where we discussed limit-switches. (in blue & underlined)
3. Click the link, and you will find some limit-switch descriptions from my posts. No drawings, except for the one requested.

Hi.

Currently I cant access to the compartment because the quarter window isn't going down and the rear compartment isn't opening. Below is the sequence of my car now.

1. Pull switch to open soft top
2. Driver and passenger window going down
3. Right quarter window went down fully
4. Left quarter window stopped on 20% then not going down anymore.
5. Rear soft top released and stopped.
6. Front soft top released and stopped.

Might be a faulty window regulator ?

How to remove the inner trim so i can access to the quarter window regulator ?

This will not be an easy task... to get the side trim panels off, you will have to remove a rear seat. Details are below for you to do this.

With the side panel removed, you will be able to see if anything is blocking the window from dropping, and get access to the motor (M10/6) if it is faulty. In your case, the motor is working - but not stopping correctly.

Before tearing the car apart here, why not get your fault codes read? I'm pretty sure that the module concerned with the window position memory (N52) can be read by the MB diagnostic system.

1. remove side panel in rear.
2. remove rear seat.
3. details of N52 - soft top actuation module. This unit also controls right rear window motor (M10/6)

To continue the task..

For anyone brave enough to continue with removal of the power window (to replace the broken lever mechanism) please realize that you will have to re-align the window glass on refitting. As this has to meet the glass on the door to weather-seal the car, the alignment has to be perfect. Hence the WIS instructions for 'pre-adjustment', 'transition' and 'fine adjustment'. There will also be work required getting access to concealed bolts behind exterior side trim & rear fender linings, etc.

By all means read carefully through the documents required. You will see that one drawing can cross-refer to another drawing for full detail. I have tried to include all those needed to complete the job.

However, you still need to start with the roof open. (yours may open enough)

1. rear side window remove/install.
2. rear side power window motor remove/install.
3. rear side window adjust.
4. rear side window pre-adjust.
5. rear side window adjust preload.
6. rear side window adjust transition.
7 rear side window fine adjustment.
