Did the transmission work OK before this repair? If so is there enough ATF in the Tranny? But burnt fluid with bits of metal does not sound good.

OK two questions here, what color was the fluid that they drained out? Pink/Red/Clear?

What fluid did they put in exactly?

Water in the transmission fluid -- even a little -- can damage and ruin the AT and the longer you let it go the worse it is. However, the fact that the display is not registering the movement of the gearshift suggests it is indeed something electrical. Personally I'd start by seeing if any codes are stored and then open up the console to check the shifter electronics.

Good luck with it.

Hy Greg, you are correct and that is why we need to know what color the fluid was. If pink then water has indeed got in.

The color of the fluid was actually brownish/blackish from being burnt that what the guy said and he put it some regular pennzoil i think it was and it was red color he said its fine this one i use it on my car to he has a 1994 sl500 .. but my concern is how did the car go from perfect driving condition except for a slight hesitation between gear changed to not driving at all from even the wrong oil change the car no longer kicked when i switched gears and everyteime i shifted and pressed on the gas rpms went up but the car didn move i put it to automanual and the display didn change from d to 1 to 2 to 3 and 4 he himself got a lil stumped at that thanks for all your help guys
