Just picked up this beauty with 37K (not Kilometers) on the clock with a CPO good until February 2011. Pewter/Black, no Nav, but just about everything else. Car was completely serviced before purchased. Love this car! We have a '06 C230 Sport (Wifey's car) already, so this MY car. Woo Hoo! I'll get some pics posted as soon as I can.
Congrats.
I echo above comment - I have 30K on it so far and not a single problem encountered. I have every option offered except Ipod.
I upgraded to CLK550 wheels as I had a hard time cleaning between the slots on the OEM CLK350's.
It's indeed a very reliable car.
Just got an '06 with 34K two weeks ago. Black on black with navi, ipod, the whole shabang... except bluetooth (Wierd, it has phone buttons, but no bluetooth). Luv it so far...
I heard horror stories about transmission, electrical etc and I know most of you won't be suckered into buying the extended warranty, but I got one anyway as 1 yr is not enough for a CPO. Anyone got the Tire Warranty(Road Hazard) since those tires are 200 bucks a pop.
What transmission, electrical, etc... horror stories are you referring to? There are 5 separate replies (not including your reply) and no mention of any particular problems. BTW, I did plenty of research on the 7 speed auto, and these cars in general, before buying this car and I don't think that there is much concern at all. If you want to read about transmission horror stories, go to the BMW E46 fanatics website. They have a sticky dedicated to the loss of Reverse gear on the auto's in their cars. Pretty bad stuff. Anyway, I was on the fence when choosing a BMW E46 or a CLK. I'm glad I went with the CLK. The BMW's that I looked at with similar miles, were not in that great of shape. I truly believe the MB owners do tend to take better care of their cars. BTW, my wife's car is an 06 C230 sport 7 speed auto that we bought brand new in 06 and it has not had one trans or electrical issue. On the 06 CLK we just bought, I did not see a need for the extended warranty as I do most of the work on the cars myself. If you were worried about warranty/maintenance problems, one option instead of buying the MB extended warranty is to put 1 or 2 grand in an interest bearing bank account and when/if something should happen, you could have an indy shop do the work for 1/2 to 2/3 of cost a dealership would charge. I'm pretty confident that you would not spend that kind of money in 3 or 4 years for warranty type work on the car. The important thing to know is that these cars need regular maintenance and like anything else, if you don't maintain it, things can go wrong in a hurry. Sorry for the long post, but I just want to put your mind at ease. I really think these cars are well built and engineered. Enjoy!
