clk500 shaking while in park, help!

Hello everyone i am new to this forum and have just purchased a 2006 clk500 with 49,000 miles. I took it to my local MB dealer for them to replace the cupholder and check up on the problem. When the car is in park it gives a little kick every once in a while and it shakes. They told me that my motor mounts were shot and they installed new ones. I still have the problem with the car and have been back and forth from the service department 4 times! They said that no check engine lights or sensors are appearing which means there is nothing wrong with the car. Has anyone experienced this problem and what can i do? and help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Greg

If you are already changed your motor mount then there are two things that you need to check on,

1) Take out your MAF sensor and clean it.
2) Check your spark plug wires.

Those two things are the common problem to our CLK. If you can please be more specific is it shakes while you park or is it shake when you stop at the traffic light ? does it hesitate to run when you step on the gas pedal ? The reason im asking because it happened to me once to my CLK320-04 (I now have CLK500-05)..it was shaking like crazy when I stopped at the traffic light and when I stepped on the gas pedal it didnt runs (takes like 5 seconds to get it go). Anyway, check on those two things that I listed above then report back.

Andy

Hello,
sorry to hear that about your car. My friend had this issue on his C240 and changed the spark plugs but the problem was still going on. Than he changed the coils and the car runs smoother than before!!

Good luck to you

Thanks for the help guys, the car does not shake when i come to a traffic light, but when i just sit in it while in park it begins to rumble giving a kick and making it shake, im not too familiar with the car, is there anyway i can get a step by step tutorial on cleaning the MAF sensor? I was almost certain that the mounts would do the trick and now mercedes is giving me a hard time and i had to get both the foreman and service manager involved in the project, it seems as if they are too lazy to get involved with the car since no problems have popped up on the computer. It feels as if it is almost misfiring but it is not hesitant at all when i step on the gas. The sparkplugs might do the trick but the car only has 50,000 miles, is that normal? Im going back to the service department tomorow, is there anything that i should ask the manager to look into? Should i ask them to check the plugs and coils?
Thanks again

Do you have still have the warranty (MB) or anything like that ? Let me try to find the DIY how to take out the MAF sensor. If you know how to take the airbox out you are halfway there.

Edit: here you go buddy,

Pull and check the condition of your spark plugs immediately after the engine stumbles as you might be able to tell which cylinder has the problem by the darken color due to excessive unburnt fuel.

Also check your CAT if you also hear the rumbling noise from below your car! Your mileage is low, but you never know. The CAT/emission system is warranted for 7 yrs/80,000 miles by federal mandate.

Be sure to have that problem fully documented on the dealer's service sheets before the car's warranty expires at 50,000 miles so you can nail them when they finally admits there is a problem later!

Good luck...

ok so i just heard back from mercedes and they have done absolutely nothing, they say that if there are no lights that come up then they do not inspect the car. They keep telling me and insisting that there is nothing wrong with the car, while i know that there is a problem.....now im stuck. I asked them to inspect the plugs and the coils but they said that a sensor would immediately go off if it fouled.

same problem too!

well i had the same problem but like at traffic lights when i stop or when i start up the car in the garage and sit there to warm up a bit. car would shake like the engine is sputtering or something.

took it to the dealership this week and they said one of the air intake covering was lose and that the car was taking in more air then it should so that's why its shaking. i have yet to test it out yet but i will test it again this week to make sure this problem is gone. so maybe give that a shot?

but if you find out your problem let me know as i'm interested too and my warranty expires on 11/30!!

thanks.

I decided to take the car back to the dealer where it was purchased, they seemed to be really helpful and inspected the whole car. The service manager told me my Mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced and that the fuel injectors needed to be cleaned and this is what is causing the shaking, the parts were ordered and will be installed by friday so i will let you know as soon as it is done. They also installed new brakes =).....thank you to everyone for the input it was greatly appreciated and helpful. He also told me that the spark plugs can also be changed but it is not neccesary, should i proceed with this?
