Should I just leave my CLK350 Grand Edition stock?

So I picked up my Clk350 Grand Edition Cabriolet about a week ago, and it's a fantastic looking car! Diamond white paint, tobacco brown interior, 19in AMG 5-spoke wheels.
Should I keep it just looking like that or modify it a bit?

BTW I'll post pics of my Grand edition later

I'd keep it stock. Any sort of after market performance mod will make it harder to insure and even worse destroy its resale value. Whenever a buyer looks at a second hand car they assume that anything that has been modded has been thrashed. If you must, keep the mods small and tasteful and discreet like a new exhaust system or wheels and tires (not that you'd need then if you already have 19" AMGs). The thing about wheels is when it comes time to sell the car you can always simply put the stock ones back on. Even though someone might like 20" chrome wheels on their Merc they're going to have a tough time selling it like that. I think the modding scene is really more for Honda Civics and Nissan Skylines.

That's my opinion but there are also some really tasteful visual mods available for those who are a little more daring. For example Lorinser and Carlsson etc. Although they cost a small fortune.

I agree 100% with Andy... Before you do anything, please post a 3 view PIX!

Then if anything, keep it discreet and tasteful... absolutely NO bling, sparkling trim, or Big ASS exhaust tips!

First of all, the pix cannot be larger than 688 kb... so you will have to use a picture program to reduce the size down in a jpg format if the size exceeds 688kb

Then then you reply, use the attachment management to browse to the folder containing the reduced jpg pix and attach it.

OR just tell us... what are the features of the Grand Edition vs. regular body style?

Ok I will try that! Thanks.

The Grand Edition is just basically a CLK with all the options, 19in AMG wheels, and a rare paint job and interior color. Performance wise, it's probably the same(still the same engine as regular).
Under the sun, the paint color is stunning, and it has a special glow to it.
It's also a limited edition car, with 600 Grand Edition Cabriolets, and 400 coupes. I bought one of the last left in Canada, and I believe there are only 50 of these Grand Editions in Canada.

Thumbs up

Unless you take a pix of the car under the right conditions, you might not catch the Stunning color.... that say, are you referring to an Iridescent type of paint... also what basic color is the car?

Mine is a rare Black Obsidian... which looks like a dark bluish-black iridescent color which glows in the sunlight.

Does your car have Keyless-GO and Parktronics options??

There's are add ons by BenzNL which are Paddle Shifters and Powered Folding Mirrors...

On the pix... when you save it in JPEG format using a picture program, like Photoshop, you can specify the degree of compression... so use LOW Resolution which will cut down the file size to under 688kb.

Yes... very nice interior... is it the Designo option, if so, it will say Designo on the headrest?

Please show some detail pix of the dash board... from left to right.. I like to see what switches are installed.

Also check out the Clear Side Markers below to replace the ugly yellow side markers:

MERCEDES BENZ CLK 03-09 W209 CRYSTAL CLEAR BUMPER LIGHT:eBay Motors (item 310147843875 end time Jul-10-09 17:05:45 PDT)

Contact Steve (BenzNL) below and he can visit your area and install the Paddle Shifters and Powered Folding Mirrors:

MBenzNL - CLK

So let me know if you get the Clear Side Markers and I'll tell you how to install them as they just pop right out and new one's pop back in but there is a trick to doing it!
