Just bought a 209...

Hi guys.

Up to recently, I have had a 2001 (208) 230 Kompressor. I have loved every minute.
I have modded it quite a lot over the 4yrs I've owned it and I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

However, I have recently been looking for a 55AMG of the 208's but was shocked to find that most of them have been treated like crap and have scratches, scuffs all over the place.... worst of all rust...even in the engine bays?!

As I understand, MB didn't start galvanising their bodywork until 2003/04. It is for this reason that I think the 208's will always need work down the line.

I had to abort my plans to get a 55 and focused my attention on the 209's.

I have to say, I still think that the 208 looks alot more masculine.... but I think I'vefound a 209 that ticks all boxes!

I am now a very proud owner of a 2007 CLK 63 AMG.

I bought it earlier this week and now have to wait until next week for it to be delivered to me . Needless to say, the wait is killing me.

Just thought I'd say hi. I guess my new home is here now?...although I didn't see the 63 AMG on the list for this forum. It has everything up to the 55.

Is there another forum I should be using?

Congratulations on the new ride, definitely a looker. I agree on the fact that the 208 was more masculine looking. The rear end was where all the muscle was on that. Good luck with the car and have fun!

Yeah, you're right, the 209 rear is more sleeker, eh.

I also think that if MB had kept the 209 headlights 'leaning forward' like they do on the 208, it would have given in a more buff look.

I've been trying to find pictures of 209's with 19's or 20's on but haven't been able to.

I'll probably keep the 63 stock... but I might consider bigger rims down the line.
