CLK 270 CDI - thinking of buying one - advice needed
Hi all,
I amplanning to purchase a Merc CLK 270 CDI, either a 2004 or 2005 model with around 60k on the clock.
Are there any common weak points I should look out for, if you own this model what have you replaced on your car ??
On another note what extras are a must on these cars, I currently drive a BMW 3 series and like the upgrades which I know are costly on Mercs. Leather is obviously a must, but what else are key options that I should look out for? WHat do you wish you had on your car as an option which is missing?
Finally am I right in thinking that the auto box has a sport mode where by you can sleect the gear yourself like a tiptronic box ?
I never thought I would switch from BMW to Merc, but am now looking more towards luxary than driving experience alone.
I understand your point in looking at a vehicle that is a few years old. The truth is, with the state of the economy it behooves almost anyone to go ahead and buy new. I found a great Mercedes lease on this CLK model. id appreciate any input from the gallery...........thanks
i had a 2004 (facelift model) 270cdi & found the engine very noisy. The torque was amazing when pulling away, but so much noise from the engine when starting up or slow speeds it got a bit annoying.
Hi
I brought an E90 320 BMW (used), and realised it was a mistake, terrible car and terrible ride due to the run flats - previous car was an E46 convertible which was great
within 48 hrs it was on autotrader. Due to a contact within a Lease company I was offered a 2005 CLK 270 cdi and I brought it over the phone without seeing it (the price was extremely attractive)
I was so pleased when the car turned up, the previous user had not reset the fuel computer for over 50k miles and showed that it had averaged 47 mpg overall (uk gallons) for most of its life. On a recent 200 mile mainly motorway journey, I averaged 56 mpg and was averaging 75mph including the non motorway part of the journey.
The engine I think is superb, the torque makes low rev town driving so easy and putting your foot down from tickover the performance is superb for a diesel(once the turbo winds up) very easy car to live with and I was very pleased.
I have had Kompressors in the past and 430-v8 mercs and I think this beats them all for best all round performance verses economy.
I will state though that mine is a manual gearbox, but that suits me as I seem to have bad luck with auto boxes.
Only regret - I wish it had rear park sensors as its a sod to judge rear parking
