Angry HELP!!! How does the head rest come off??

OK, I tried everything including yanking up on the headrest to get it off the seat, but it will not budge.

I do see any locking holes at the base of the slide rails or hidden buttons on the back of the seat that would release the guide rails...

How does it come off???

Unhappy How do you disassemble the back of the seat??

Waaa? Did you ever try to hammer a pillow??? Where do you hit it??

Is there a release somewhere... or do you have to disassemble the back of the seat to release the head rest guide rails? If so, how do you take the back off?

Anyone, please ???

If you fold the backrest forward, you should find two screws at the bottom, one at each side.

The lining has two hooks at the top, you have to slide it downwards until the top comes off.

I loked at EPC and it shows a wrench for the headrest. Now weather or not you need it to remove the headrest I don't know.

I just got my manual out, it says to raise the headrest up as far as it will go and then pull it out.

Unhappy Active Head Restraints are not removeable !!!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the help... as it turns out I have Active Head Restraints!!! That means they cannot be removed.

I will have to do what Diesel Benz said ... remove the back panel of the seat and disconnect wires and whatever???

Does anyone have the procedure what to do once inside the back of the seat?

Post Active Head Restraint for Rear-End Collusion...

Active Head Restraint works in a rear-end collusion... to prevent head and neck injury when the head is thrown forward and then backwards.

The head rest is locked in it's most forward position during a rear-end collusion, so that the head has less distance to travel before it contacts the head rest.

After the collusion, the head rest must be RESET with a tool.

Because of that, the head rest cannot be removed from the seat. There must be a solenoid with wires going down the guide rail tube.

You learn something new about your car every day!
