I just purchased a 2005 CLK500 and have been playing around with it's audio system. So far I'm very impressed with the Command System but have two questions:
1) Are there any after market gadgets that will boost the antenna? There are a few stations that no longer come in as clear as my last car.
2) Are there any websites or even forums (perhaps this one?) regarding Tips, Tricks, Hacks, Firmware Updates, Nav DVD updates/purchases, etc related to the Command System?
Yes, there are updates that a dealer will perform under warranty. I used to be a tech for a few years and came across with the problem a few times. The antenna is fine and please don't touch. If your antenna was bad, you would have problems with all the stations. If the nav antenna was bad the nav system would fail. The dvd that the dealer can install takes a few minutes to install and fixes a bunch of problems. Keep in mind that if you replace the navigation dvd with a newer version, you cannot use the old one again. Its a mistake that can cost about $300 By the way, there are updates for both the comand and the navigation system
Thanks Sovereignbenz for the advise. But I'm not clear about the update. Are you not recommending the DVD update? Also, is there a way to find out what the update actually does- feature/fix list?
I thought I read somewhere that you can play MP3's, is that true is do you need something after market or hacked? Anyone know?
