It has a few electrical quirks which I will get looked at the next service in 7000klms time.
Just interested to see if these are common issues.
The problems are..
1) Headrest on drivers side - doesn't always retract when seat is tilted.
2) Same headrest - on occassions refuses to go up or down using door switch
3) I think the mirror(s?) are supposed to dip down on reverse. My passenger mirror (Right hand drive as I am live in sunny Australia - so left hand mirror) - seems to move upwards and drivers side does not move at all. Can someone confirm what the mirror(s) are supposed to do please?

Congrats on your new motor. I've got the same model, and I'm delighted too....
Regarding mirrors - the passenger side only tilts when reverse is engaged - but only if that side's mirror button is in on the dash. If the right hand adjuster button is then pressed the mirror returns to its normal position. We're the same as you (I'm UK) so it's the left hand mirror that dips so you can see the kerb (and not scrape that lovely alloy). Driver's side doesn't tilt and this is how MB designed it.
My headrests too didn't always work when I got the car, but six months later they seem okay and work every time - I assume the previous owner had no kids / friends, whereas I've a car full (of kids) every time I get a chance to go for a spin. I think things like electric seats/windows/etc need to be used regularly otherwise they are likely to stick or stop working due to lack of use.

The headrest doorswitch should work regardless if the seat is tilt or not... Try this test: With the seat back and locked, switch the head rest switch up and down rapidly about 100 times... if you see the head rest work just briefly then you have a BAD headrest switch.
If the head rest does not move at all, the switch could still be BAD and not intermittent. Changing the switch is cheaper than changing the motor!

I too have the problem of the reversing mirror function going to some compeltely useless position, I can read you can change it, but how exactly do you do that. Do you simply adjust it while in reverse with the controls? Will it remember next time you go in to Reverse where you want it? Do you have to store it in a memory? I tried that but seemed to loose my normal forward driving memory position, I adjusted it when in reverse, stored it while still in reverse, then when I went back to Drive, it stayed in the reversing position.
