I bought a Mercedes CLK500 2003 about a month ago. I have an extended warranty on it. But today my 3rd brake light cracked. Took it to the dealer and they said it would only be covered if i had the orginal factory warranty. After reading some posts on this website ive noticed a lot of people have had the dealer replace the 3rd brake light even when the car has run out of factory warranty. Whats my best bet to get this fixed for free.... it is obvioulsy a design flaw/factory defect. Should i try a different dealer, or call Mbusa? Any advice is appreciated. thanks for reading
For what it is worth. Find the posts using the search function of the people who have had this repaired under warranty. Print out the post and for added insurance, contact them via PM and find out what dealers and who their service manger was. Once done go back to your dealer and show him the evidence you have. If they still refuse, tell them you'll be contacting MBusa. I did this very same thing, not with the cracked light but with another issue. Its amazing how quickly they changed their tune to We will cover this. Another thing to keep in mind. Dealers and their employees will try to get you to pay for anything EVEN under warranty. Thats the nature of the game. Not all mind you but some. Hope this helps.
