I've got a CLK 350 and she is 5 months old. On the exterior door mirrors, inside the clear indicator lens, I have noticed some green moss is starting to form. I can only assume that at some time, moisture has got inside the lens and stayed trapped.
Due to the fact that there are bulbs inside the lens, this must mean the lens is removable.
You have to look closely to see the green moss, but once spotted it is quite unsightly and, in fact, totally ridiculous.
So my question is - has anyone had reason to remove a lens and, if so, is it quite straightforward? Also anyone noticed any green moss growing inside their lenses?

I have not had green moss but definite condensation. The dealer said this is a known problem with the side mirror signals. I had mine replaced under warranty and thus far the problem has not returned. I noticed with the faulty ones that if the humidity was high, the problem was worse. I don't know how to replace them but it took the dealer over an hour to replace both. I believe the mirror glass has to be removed and the lights inserted from the mirror side to get the seal properly positioned.
Not sure at this stage just which way forward to go.
On the one hand I obviously don't want this problem to spoil the look of the car - green moss is not the sort of thing you would associate with a nearly new Mercedes. On the other hand am a bit reluctant to let the dealership get their hands on it so soon down the line.
I will keep my eye on it and see if it gets any worse and, if so, how quickly the problem progresses.
