Dealer suspects faulty fuel guage sensors are MTBE related

My 2000 CLK430 was at the dealer today to have the fuel sensor checked out. He stated that MB suspects that the additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE) is causing premature oxidation on the conductors in the fuel tank that measure level.

Just an FYI for those of you having fuel guage issues. I wasn't sure if we only put MTBE here in California, or if the rest of the country had it also.
