spring compressor?

does anyone have spring compressors? the one that's specifically for our MB's w/ the center shaft and the two plates. i have my old one i used for my honda w/ struts but it was a b*tch to use it for the CLK. i'm sure that was designed w/ struts in mind. you know how much it is? my mb mechanic said its almost $1k!!! i was hoping someone can provide other options.

what stirred all this... basically i wanted to install #2 and #1 spring pads but was not about to pay for this simple procedure. btw i'm in alhambra, CA =)

It's $900 from Snapon

It's a special Euro spring compressor.

It is a royal pain in the rear without the right tool - tried, aborted, scary, never again.
