Hello W208 Forum

I wanted to say hello to the forum. I registered earlier this month December, and have had my 2002 w208 CLK55 AMG for a year now. I had a BMW Z3 2.8L before.... what a big difference... I will attach pictures. I love the 55, and what a great value... The car drives great and the engine is in excellent condition. The mechanic said it was like new.

You usually don't want to mess with perfection, but as you know when you get a toy, you want to tinker a little... I want to change out the front lower grille between the fog light to a black mesh grille... it is broken. I also want to update the wheels, although they look great as is... and finally paint the calipers silver. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I am looking at these rims below... 18's or 19's not sure, but will stagger front and rear. I think it will look sweet with these wheels

Also, instead of black mesh lower grille, I am thinking of chrome, also with AMG badges on the sides.

I paid 8250 a year ago with 100k miles. I believe I got not a steal but a great deal. I am always surprised when cars like these lose the value to this extent... it was a msrp of 68K plus tax its nearly 80K. I understand it is a v8 with extra stuff that comes with the AMG package and that gas is expensive, but I have been getting 25-26 mile per gallon, which is great for a 350hp joyride.

Welcome to the forum
The wheels currently on the car look good but are not original and narrower in the rear than oem.
Interesting idea about the lower valance, using a mesh. With the right style powder coated might look very nice.
Had those wheels for awhile, these are 18's 8.5/9.5

Thanks for the welcome. I am looking forward to learning more about the clk model.

You noticed the back right rear wheel... yes you are correct that wheel is narrower, that picture is the previous owners picture... when I bought the car, for some weird reason the rear wheel was on the left front axle, and the back right had the front wheel. They have since been changed, now the wheels are correct and staggered properly and all wheels with new tires. I think you will be able to tell in this image the front left wheel is bigger, and actually sticks outside the fender. I truly didn't notice until I got it home.

The wheels on your 430 look great! What kind are they and where did you get them... can you tell me the cost.

Thanks Latin Racer, and thanks about the z3, it was a great car, turned heads everywhere, it was the best looking z3 I have ever seen in my opinion... with that being said, my 55 AMG is so much more car... I don't think I will go back to the dark side (BMW)...lol.
