New Steering Wheel Buttons

So I finally gave in and spent the 200 dollars to replace my crappy looking steering wheel buttons. Im glad I did, it looks 10 times better now. If anyone is debating on doing it I would recommend it. It is very easy to replace as well. All you do is loosen the two hex bolts on the backside of the wheel, you can then pull the center section of the steering wheel out. Before you go any further disconnect your battery so you dont trip the airbag. From here you disconnect the electrical plugs(5 total) and two screws per side. Then you just pull them out and do the reverse order for installing the new ones.

Interesting.....I had a similar issue with both the 00 and 02 cars. The buttons actually got sticky and were just a disaster! I cleaned the switches very carefully with a towel and Windex as well as just a little Simple Green to remove the "Gook". They are now clean and feel like new. You have to be careful to not take the paint off the buttons but if you take your time (probably about 30 minutes total) you end up with buttons as nice as when you took them home from the dealership.....at least it worked for me.

Might be worth a try before you send the time and $$ to replace them.

Cheers!
