Cabrio Rear Window Trim

Has anyone replaced the plastic rear window frame/trim (interior) on their CLK? I'm looking for info on the price of the part and the possibility of DIY. Thanks.

It's GREAT to be a Florida Gator!

Why are you replacing it? Hope you don't have a cable problem?

No, my top works great. The trim is brittle from age and is cracked in a couple of places, and the clips that hold it tight to the headliner are broken, leaving a gap that is visible from the outside.

I have the same issue. On mine, the clips have broken off the driver-side vertical trim.

Hope to hear something easier than replacing the headliner, since they are sewn together.

I was considering a trim adhesive to bond the trim to the metal windows frame.

I am having the same issue, and am prepared to replace the headliner. Is anybody aware of a good source for this part? The Stealership is the only place that I have found it, and they want more than $900....

Follow-up.

To save a few $$$ under our current economic times, I decided to try an adhesive.

I ran a small bead of Amazing Goop contact adhesive and sealant along the aluminum windows frame channel where broken trim tabs would insert, and clamped the trim in place for 24 hours.

AG Automotive Product Information 0709

So far, the trim is holding fine with no issues.

I used this product to temporarily repair a small cut in a Sebring convertible top, one of the rivets for the webbing poked through. The temporary repair lasted the life of the top.

Good stuff.

Hi Vince,

I have a similar problem with the headliner trim in my cabriolet, and plan to try your suggestion. May I please enquire what type of clamps you used to hold the trim in place?

Cheers,

Brad
