hi folks normally hang out in 'my' w163 forum but needing to put a new set of shoes on the wife's clk55. knew they were 'worn' when i bought it + also understand they are/were summer tires. back look fine. these are stock size so no fidgeting. what's normal tire wear? do the fronts go out before the backs? it's normal (mostly at posted speed and cautiously) driven car meaning i dont' drive it as much as she does. happy new '09 to all; just getting my new year's mb purchase calendar in order.

i have had to change out my rears about 3 times before having to buy new fronts.
if your fronts are wearing out that quickly, I would highly consider getting a Hunter 4-wheel alignment to check for tow, camber, and caster.
it's actually normal to front wear out faster then rears, becuase your front are turning a lot, sliding on a corners, so its normal rears always keep up longer then fronts, normal mileage for these kind of tires, since they are high performance is around 10k but it depends how u drive, but you can push up to 17k to 22k miles, but most of the time its soft rubber tires so they don't last to long.

You are incorrect. You do realize that our cars are REAR WHEEL DRIVE??????
349 Horse Power and 376 Torque (STOCK) . Whenever you step on the gas on our W208 CLK55's, the tires spin baby!!!!!
You really don't know what you are talking about, so please stop posting in this thread.
I've had the stock wheels on my car, 2 different sets of 19" wheels, and a set of 20" right now. On EVERY setup, the rear tires had to be changed on an average of (3) times before the fronts had to be replaced.
I'm sure many members can chime in here and back me up on this =)
I guess your dad is not at home,
If you ever changed tires, and you dont drive like a maniac, burning tires non stop front tires will wear out quicker, I allways get two set on front one on a back, idk how u manage to do opposite.

my dad is not at home??? that's the best you can come up with? sorry bud, if this is the only way you can try to insult me, I'm not even going to retaliate...
it is plain common sense to understand that front wheel drive cars will require changing out the front tires more frequently than the rear ones.......and rear wheel drive cars will require changing out the REAR tires more frequently than the rear ones.
You don't have to do burn outs every day to know this....it's just PLAIN COMMON SENSE.
Ok... Im a 55 owner too, and just used to replacing tires when they burn out. Im sure mileage will vary for all but more importantly look to the tires condition when you are replacing. Is one area worn more than the rest? If you have a tire worn completely across the face.. it has served you well and need nothing more than a new set of shoes. If it's warn more inside outside, left side right side, then you have other issues to attend to. Of course the harder the tire the longer the wear but then whats the fun it that! These cars are meant to be driven. The 55 was designed with soft tires for a reason. Stick with sticky and you can only have FUN

Here is a poll on the other forum on guys who drive W208 CLK55's. Take the average......i'd say it's right around 2.5 to 3.0 every rear set to front. poll on changing rear tires - MBWorld.org Forums
Now, you Piece of Crap, Tool, idiotic, absolutely nothing-knowing about MERCEDES (yes....i'm talking to CLK430) .......stop posting false , useless information.
