Wheel spacer question

Patience needed. I'm new.
I'm halfway thru the install of a big brake kit and find that the new caliper, Only the front, Touches, ( but only just ). the spokes of my wheels, ( I reckon if I took the paint off, It would clear).
I've ordered a pair of 5mm spacers and my question is,
By rights, Should I also space out the rear as well?? Do I have to??
Total 10mm width on the front shouldn't be obviously noticeable visually, But are there any handling issues??
