more adjustments..

Hey all.

I spent today installing 20mm spacers for the rear to replace the 15mm spacers. I was very worried about rubbing (again!) so after I put the 20mm spacers on, I parked on of the rear wheels on a few slabs and got my bro and a friend to sit on the boot sill. There is about 2-3mm clearance - that's close enough for me without rolling arches etc.

These new spacers are the kind that bolt to the hub.. and then your wheel bolts to the spacer. The bolts that hold the spacer top the hub were about 2mm longer than my wheel bolts. I had to grind 2mm of the spacer bolts because they were making mild contact on the hand brake adjuster.

It all good now!!

Although the new spacers are only 5mm thicker, they have made a big difference. The rear wheels are now pretty much where I want them to sit - although I am tempted to drop the car some more!!

I also decided to remove the badgeing from the boot. I just have the Mercedes star on the boot now. I was worried that there would be a "ghost" of the lettering on the paint - but I was very surprised and glad that there wasn't!

Hi mate. Cheers for the compliments.

They are Kumho tyres. They are actually quite a cheap performance tyre... entry level, you could say.

The "model" number for them is "Khumo Ecsta KU31"

You should be able to find them easily enough. However, I think they may have discontinued the KU31's but they have another tyre very similar now.

looking rude dood. Dont you just love the look of the back wheels now that they are flush to the arch ! Have you ever thought of getting a wider dish on the rears?

By the way I followed my wife home driving her car whilst she was driving my car..... and boy oh boy did my ride look awsome, !!! Seriously I have not had a chance of seeing it being driven before and the rear wide wheels and tyres with the spacers just look incredible. As the wheel went over bumps and the tyre moved up inside the wheel arch with mm to spare it looked so rude... Try and see, get your mate to drive your car and then film it . !!

Yeah man, I'm very happy with the results.
I know what you mean about the lips on the rear rims.... I'll make sure my next set of wheels are staggered. I enquired about staggered replica Carlsson's but I was told that they don't do them..... THEN I found out on the forum that they do!!! - - AARRGH!!!

Never mind.

And yes, maybe one day I will allow somebody to drive my car about and... what am I saying... hell no!!! my shit is MY shit!

haha... maybe one day.
