Do you mean the lense of the dome light or all of the actual housing?
The lenses are reasonably flexible so you can grip one end with your fingers (the back end of the lense that is facing the rear of the car) and push it forwards. You'll see that the lense "bows" alittle which enables you to remove it. You'll see that the lenses are held into place by small plastic tabs on each end of the lense.
If you want to remove ALL the dome light housing - I'm afraid I cannot help with that.

Thanks, Rashman. I have blue blue LEDs in the interior and Carlsson reps (staggered) too on my SLK. I was installing bigger/better/newer LEDs in the dome light of dome of the CLK and fried it. So I bought another one. I need to take out the entire unit. Thanks, I want to see your blue calipers.

after u remove the 2 clear peices...theres 2 little silver tabs...u may need a screwdriver or something to pry em down ...once theyre down the whole unit should just b able to be pulled down and then all ur wires and dome light console will be hanging by those wires...
Thanks alot deyainrdy4ds for the write up and link.
Rashman, I need those brakes. My brakes look awful (rust). I'll have to save those pics, maybe I can get a shop to paint mine. Luckily, the garage at work has low light, so it isn't noticeable to the viewing public. I love those pics because you have the same wheels I do, and they kinda match my SLK. I have those tires on the CLK, replaced P Zero Neros, rides much better on groovy lanes of bus traveled roads. Love those brakes. -girl600

I know what you mean about the rust. That was the reason I wanted to paint. I was just going to paint the calipers at first but then thought that the disc guards and hubs would look good if they were painted too. You don't see it often. Having said that, I guess it may not be to everyone's taste.
Luckily I had a friend to help me who has lots of experience with messing about with cars over the years. We did a thorough job but it meant that it took all day!
I appreciate that people probably don't have the time to do this sort of thing. So if you can find somebody or some paint shop to do it, that'd be your best bet.
There's no reason the paint shouldn't last as long as the surfaces are well prepared.
Don't forget that when it comes to changing your discs, you will have to say goodbye to your handywork and do it all over again!
On the flip side, I am a careful driver and don't punish my brakes so I don't anticipate needing to replace my discs in the near year or few!
The tyres, yeah, I like them. I don't really thrash my car so I don't need hardcore tyres. Some say that the Khumo is quite a "square" tyre, but they're curved enough for me not to get rubbing on the arches... only just.
