W208 or W209?

I'm thinking about picking up a CLK covertible and am torn between the 03 and 04. There are aspects of the styling that I can go either way. Please let me know your opinions and if there are any other considerations I should consider such as reliablility, etc.

Thanks

Already spending my stimulus check!

I believe 02 was the last year for the w208. but with that said I'd go w208 instead of 209, I mean, hey more power to the 209 guys, but those cars are pretty damn girly and they look bland.

The w208 has timeless lines, and an aggressive look, especially from the side.

go w208

w209 is slower, although the pillar-less design is sweet

I agree about the 'girly' look of the 209, especially on the 320s.
Going topless on the 208 also means going pillar-less.

Looks like 2 big wins so far for the 208.

Anything I should think about mechanically? Is gas mileage respectable on the CLK430?

Yeah, the only reason I'd consider a 209 is because it's pillar-less... but if you're going cab anyway you're already there.

But that's all based on external styling... haven't even seen the inside of a 209. Of course you did ask in the 208 forum, so I'm pretty much expecting most of us to say that.

I also threw this out in the 209 forum. The silence over there is deafening.

the only 209 that I would buy would be the 2005 + CLK 55... they went with quad exhaust on the 05. Also it depends on what you are looking at spending.. 208 you can pick up for next to nothing compared to that they were new.

Cool! Appreciate the input, you basically reaffirmed what I was thinking. I just need to kill the little voice in my head that says "newer must be better".

I've driven both and like the 208 much better than the 209. Performance is better and the styling is also more unique. The 209s look like glorified C- Class. Buy the 208!!!!
Happy Driving
