When ever the back raises or hits a big bump i hear this lunk sound. I was thinking the shock could be bad but the car is not bouncing nor does it happen on reg driving. Ride height is still the same. Do our cars have a rear shock mount? And how expensive are new rear shocks? I was looking up shocks and it was saying one side is more expensive then the other side. Can anyone elaborate?
I think I am hearing the same noise. I recently replaced spring pads and shocks.
Who installed your shocks? Did they re-installed the factory rubber bushing that goes on top of the shock back? Without this rubber bushing, it will cause metal to metal thumping noise. Each shock should have two bushing. One goes on top of the shock and the other goes on top of the chassis. Bilstein shock only came with one bushing and it the one that goes on top of the chassis.
The bilstein sports I got from tirerack came with a bushings for the top nut and washer and a thinner bushing for the chassis and shock. I did not install a bumpstop though.

I think I have the exact same issue. No bouncing, but a "kloklonk" noise coming from the rear left side.
I will probably replace both rear shocks... but I still have some doubts.
1. Did you find where your noise was coming from?
2. What brand of shock do you recommend. My local part supplier only carry monroe. Is it something to avoid at all costs? Would it make a big difference compared to something else? I always wondered if the handling of a car depends more on the quality of the parts, or the geometry of the design. I mostly drive in town and on dirt road.
