New cats!

Well, im told mercedes has 8 year warranty on cats, mine ended in feb.. but at the time I had them checked at the dealer for rattling.. they said it was a heat shield, 140$ to replace/install.. months later when I start the car it rattled a bit..

Long story short I paid .5/hour labour ($60) to have them checked today.. Was talking to the guy while he hit it with a rubber mallet and he said sounds ok, but when car is warm it expands so he asked me a few things.. real nice guy and he just said f-it and wrote down that they need to be replaced... service advisor tells me he will replace it under warranty to come back in 10 days while they order parts


On the other hand, I paid 59.99 for 1 wiper blade, and 12.50 to install it... I heard they install for free?... they cleaned and vaccumed car , filled all fluids, total was 144$

saving 3800$ on new catts.. priceless



p.s.. after they are changed how much better will my car perform?

Wow good deal... I had one catalytic converter changed last year and it cost $450.00 at an independent Mercedes shop. The dealer wanted about $1500 if I recall correctly to just replace one. And they're replacing all 4 under warranty? If this is correct... excellent!!

ps. they denied warranty on mine... maybe because of mileage? I had about 140,000 miles back then. Maybe they're only warrantied for 100,000 or 8 yrs whichever comes first?

well i knew i shouldent have held my breath, Fucking scumbag stealership Fucked me again!


So yesterday morning I drop my car off to get these catts installed.. I sign a paper stating what will be changed etc, they give me a loaner car and off i went to work

2 hours later the same service advisor (PETER) calls my cellphone and says "Mike, we have got a problem, your warranty has ran out, We cant install this for you"


Turns out the service advisor overlooked the date of my 8 year warranty when he ordered the parts!!!!

He tells me theres nothing he can do that it was his fault, only calling me back an hour later saying that he can give me the 2500$ catts at there "cost" at 1800$

I am even more pissed at this point wondering how they were going to overcharge me 700$ on this part, I laughed and told him I will pick up my car tomorrow that he will be hearing from benz canada

What exactly can i do guys?


P.s This was the Mb dealership In TORONTO, THE QUEENSWAY
