Engine Longevity

Searching for a Preowned CLK, Most likely 02 or 03 V8. Drove the 430 and loved it. Have yet to drive a 55, but probably would be tempted even more.

General question about Long term durability of both V8s. Seen posts about the 430 going 200k without many problems and wondered if the same went for the 5.5? I know the engine is reassembled by AMG, and wondered if the same Mercedes Life expectancy apply? Does the excess power put more strain on the powertrain?

Any info. greatly appreciated, Last benz was a w126 with the 601 diesel (TANK), time to come back,

I've had my 2000 CLK430 Cabriolet since new and have been very pleased. I now have 163,000 miles. Major repairs have been one catalytic converter and motor mounts. Other than that I had front end suspension parts changed to get back the original handling feel back. I would quess that the CLK55 is similar.
