Signal lights in mirror cause faulty lamp message?
Does anyone know if the little signal lights in the mirrors will cause the faulty lamp message? I had one of the driving lights out some time ago when the warning went off. I replaced the bulb and all's well. Several months later, I'm getting the message again. The only light that I can see that is bad is one of the little signal lights in the driver's side mirror. I am having trouble believing that this will set off the computer. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks!
i dont think they do, because i am going to change the bulbs in there and when i opened the mirror i purposely took out one bulb from one mirror to see if it gives the error and its been out ever since and i did not get the error msg. Maybe i will error when all the six bulbs go out?
Hey there, I've had a couple of problems with 'faulty lamp' the first time around it was one of the small head lights, but the 2nd time around it was one of the signal indicator lights.
I'm not clear on whether or not you've done so already, apologies if you have already, but check the fog lights up front and also the rear fog light. Also I have an earlier model with the signal indicators on the side of the car just south of the side/rear view mirrors, but when the light for one of the indicators went out I got the error as mentioned above.
So, it would be reasonable to think that a bad light in your mirror based indicators could be the likely cause.
Additionally, when doing a walk around of the car to see all the lights, turn your right signal on and make sure the tail lights flash correctly, and also the head lights, same for the left side. If you have a bulb that's going bad or has a bad connection it might be blinking faster than it should be and that may also be the cause.
Sorry, also I don't know if perhaps any of the interior cabin lights would set it off either, never had an issue with those because they're never on. But it's a possibility, maybe someone more in the know will chime in.
Ah, and I just read what ZEEK said, hmm...
Z, did you move all the lights from the mirror entirely? I'm asking because I don't have mirrors with the signal indicators, but when you turn on your lights, do lights come on in the mirror indicators or do they only activate when you put your turn signal on?

I replaces all my interior cabin lights with LED festoon bulbs (3) and I replaced the lights under the door with LEDs (2) and didn't get any errors.
I even drove it around without a bulb in the back of the cabin for a while with no errors.
The lights in the mirrors only go on when you signal. If the bulbs are out in theere they dont error either.

I had recently replaced one of the city lights, and thought that maybe the other one was not strong enough and causing the fault. Turns out it was the passenger side marker light. I thought I had checked all of them -- whoops! Still have one light out in driver's side mirror, and faulty lamp message is gone.
