Rough idle at stop light / What is normal idle rpm?

Hello,

I have a 2001 CLK320, I was driving today and noticed that at some stop lights the car had a rough idle, also it felt like it was sputtering a little. I checked the rpms and it is idling at 500 on the dot, is that a normal idle rpm?

Would a throttle body cleaning remedy this? If so , is it easy to do on these cars?

The normal idle for a benz engine in "D" is 600, so it seems your idle speed is slightly low..... poor gas, even a bad mass could be an issue.

I had the same issue and found that my motor mounts were shot. changed them and its like a new engine, smooth.

shouldnt a bad MAF throw a code?

also this is a slightly rough idle, almost hard to notice if not paying attention
