Hi,
I know the engine oil topic has been covered 10k times. Let me ask it one last time. Can I mix 6 qt Mobil1 0w-40 and 2 qt Mobil1 10w-30?
The reason is I already bought 6 qt of Mobil1 10w-30 thinking this should be okay for my car since 10w-30 is so commonly used in many cars. Then I read more and more about oil in this forum and found Mobil1 10w-30 is NOT MB approved and only 0w-40 is. Is that true?
Since I already bought the 10w-30, I was wonder can I mix them so I don't have to waste those 6 qt of 10w-30.
I wouldnt mix weights. I dont think 10W-30 is going to hurt anything. If I were you I would either buy 2 more quarts of 10W-30, and use the "right" weight next time, or just bite the bullet and go buy 8 quarts of 0W-40.
Don't mix your oil, it's not good for your engine. You could try bringing them to an auto parts store and ask if you can just exchange them for the correct weight and tell them you lost your receipt.

Yeah, Wal-Mart will most likely give you a store credit. Then you can purchase the correct weight.
