New Member's Introduction & Questions on Specific Parts on Modifying my CLK.

Hey guys, what's up? I didn't really see a introduction area, so I thought it might be okay to post my intro here. I hope that it's cool with all of you.

As you all know, this is truly my first post in this website/forum. I just joined a couple days ago. So if you don't mind, I'd like to give you a quick overview of me and my cars.

I was formerly a member of the ToyotaNation Forum. 80% of the members there in my specific section knew who i was and how extremely nice my car was.

I'm a real cool dude, down to earth, easy to talk to. I'm one of those guys who anyone can relate to. I also know a lot about many cars, especially when it comes down to modifying and connections as far as prices go.

On Jan 29th 2008, I was on the way to school, but while on the freeway during traffic, I was rear ended pretty hard. It was to the point where my insurance company couldn't repair my car. My previous car was a HEAVILY MODIFIED TOYOTA CAMRY. For a 4-cylinder camry, it was very fast... 268 HORSEPOWER at the wheels fast. That alone should give you an idea of how much it was modified. Keep in mind that stock horsepower was only 133. Here's pics of my previous car...

As of right now, I had just purchased a great looking CLK 320 (W208). I'll give you guys all the details in about a week or so. However, I do indeed have A LOT and I mean A LOT of plans with modifying my new CLK, the only difference is that any parts for a CLK are WAY EXPENSIVE compared to what i'm use to paying. Geez. LoL. It's all good though. I think it's worth it.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, now as far as modifying, if you guys can REALLY help me out on this one. I have a bunch of questions, if you know anything or have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

PLEASE NOTE:
I've done my research and read a lot of threads already. I just want to make sure of some things before i go on with them.

- Let's say I buy some aftermarket wheels...
What are the WIDEST set of rims that i can fit without custom body work?
In 17's, 18's, or 19's?
And what offset? I want as much lip as possible.
I also might have the car lowered before hand.
(I don't mind rolling my rear fenders)

- Is it worth getting a air intake? (after reading threads, didn't seem like much)

- I found some "okay priced" ECU performance chips, is it worth it?

- Are there any carbon fiber parts available for the engine area?

- Are there any carbon fiber parts available for the interior?

- What brands make coilovers for a CLK 320 (W208)?

- What's the BEST setup to lowering my car?
(example: springs, adjustable coilovers, etc.)

- Is there ANY AFFORDABLE way of getting a good amount of Horsepower?

- Is there anything that you might want to add?

--------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your patience fellow peeps. I know it seemed kinda' long, but it won't always be like that.

Hello,

Welcome to a different world. Your Camry looks great....but if it's power and horsepower that you want, you should have started out with a CLK55 instead of a 320....or at least a 430. However, best of luck in your new adventure.

Thanks bro. Other than power, i also want to modify some exterior parts as well. The two main things i'm really focused on are lowering my car and some wheels. With my camry, i was an expert with my offsets, rim sizes and widths. Now i'm brand new to the Benz scene.

buy my 18s lol...18x8.5 and 18x10 in the rear

i think its worth it with some green filters..amg intake w/ green filters

- I found some "okay priced" ECU performance chips, is it worth it?

ECU seemed like a pretty good buy too...got mine from speedtuningusa

- Are there any carbon fiber parts available for the engine area?

renntech c/f intake

- Are there any carbon fiber parts available for the interior?

custom shiet other than steering wheel, shift knob, speedometer area thingy...

- What brands make coilovers for a CLK 320 (W208)?

KW

- What's the BEST setup to lowering my car?
(example: springs, adjustable coilovers, etc.)

i went with H&R sports springs and bilstein sport shocks and im happy...theres better or well more expensive options out there tho

- Is there ANY AFFORDABLE way of getting a good amount of Horsepower?

nOpe lol

Thanks deyainrdy4ds, i'll keep those tips in mind. If there are other great mods that can be done to the car that isn't "TOO EXPENSIVE" let me know. I'm down for anything, well... if it looks good.

Since I also have a 320 we are limited on what we can do from a hp gain perpective. Not that we can't do it, but if you wanted to it would cost a pretty penny. At that point you might as well look into getting a 430 or a 55. Personally, the next on my list is the suspension, which looks like you have already done. Then next on the list would be a body kit, but I will probably just go with the AMG kit to keep it as stock as possible.

There is a guy on the other site in the w209 forum who has a s/c from a SLK320 which commented that is might fit on a w208 320, but it won't be a straight bolt on proceedure. That and I am not sure how much extra hp you will get out of the s/c, but it's an option.

As much as i would love to get a CLK 430 or a CLK 55, i can't at the moment, with the amount of miles i drive to school everyday, i'd be COMPLETELY broke in less than a month. one way to school alone is 42 miles.

so right now, my plans are to keep it clean and simple...

- lower my CLK
- get some real hott rims
- install my $3,000 sound system from my previous car onto my CLK
- re-tint all my three rear windows double limo, and my two front limo
- Brembo Big Brake Kit in the front
- Install high end rotors and pads in the rear, maybe the calipers too
- HID + High end headlights
- HID Fog lights
- exhaust system
- ECU upgrade
- air intake upgrade or maybe just a "green filter"
- Carbon fiber parts, inside and out
- rear window spoiler

i still had more in mind, i just can't remember the rest at the moment.
- POSSIBLY a body kit, not sure yet
