Driver's seat will not go back

My driver's seat will not move forward or backward. Everything else works... Recline, up down.., etc.. Any ideas?

sounds like you need to recalibrate your seat, but because you can't move it forward I don't think you will be able to. You might want to try and pull the fuse for the seat affected and see if it starts working again. If not then it might be time to replace the motors.

Yep, he's right, either the fuse or the motor, if you need a walk-through on how to check the fuses I think there's a thread here on it, but if you need details with pics let me know.

It's funny because I have to get my one motor replaced, I let my friend drive the car this past summer multiple times and she's short. At one point the motor went out, I told her, no matter what you do, DON'T move the seat forward. You can just move the seat up, and the backrest forward. As soon as she got into the seat, she moved the seat forward... I was like what did I JUST, SAY.

Long story short, I was cramped as hell, but I managed to move the back rest back a bit, and the seat downward to achieve a comfortable enough driving position until I get around to replacing the damn thing.

Hey Benson.. That's exactly what happened

I usually don't let anyone drive my car, But I traded with my wife for her E55 for just one day. My wife is 4' 11" and I am 6' 2". She dropped my car off at work and took hers back.. I had to drive home with my knees to the dashboard. I did exactly as you did and reclined and lowered the seat as much as possible.. Yes, please send me the details. I started on it last night and I am a little frustrated at this point..

OK, looks like the pics are not showing up in the order I want them to show up, but everything is self explanatory.

allllrightyyy here we have some pics, if you click on each one you should be able to see the larger version of it.

You'll want a pair of pliers to do this, although you 'can' do it by hand.

1. The first pic shows you which fuse you'll need to replace, there should be a bunch of white ones, with the number 25 on it, I'm rusty on my electric lingo

2. In the next pic, you'll see the same fuse from the side, you'll see the little connection is severed, it'll look similar to the one in the pic, I outlined the broken connector in red, it should look just like that though. The camera couldn't get me a good pic of the actual link so I just did it up in photoshop.

3. the location of the fuse box you'll be working with in the trunk. It's just above/north of the battery. You may have extra fuses back there, I didn't have any. There's a little cover for it that you can also see in the pic, I placed it on top of the battery.

4. And lastly, a close up of the fuses, if memory serves me right, then you're going to be looking at either fuse 6 or 7, but I'm not certain. Either way, you will know for sure which fuse is the culprit when you see the one with the broken link. The good fuses will have a solid link, and the broken one, well you'll see the little gap where it's no longer linked.

The owner's manual has details on the fuse locations as well, and if you don't have any extra fuses, you can find them at your local auto parts store. Simply remove the bad fuse, and just slide a good one in. If you're not up to date with fuses and electronics and all that jazz, just take the bad fuse in with you and they'll point you in the right direction.

Make sure the car is off, lol, I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but better safe than sorry. I didn't unplug the battery or anything when working with the fuses though.

If you replace the fuse and still nothing, then it's probably the motor, there is a DIY on here for replacing the seat motor. If you need more pics or have any questions because my little write up sucked, let me know and I'll help you out some more.

Let us know how it goes!
