my friends 01clk320 will not go in to drive
it takes a while to do so
so i was wondering how much u guys think a rebuild of the trans will cost
or do you guy and gals know of a site that sells our trannys
thanks
Before you do that change the oil and filter in the transmission first. I had the same problem and thought i need a new tranny till i changed the fluids. Runs like a brand new machine. Cost me around 150 at a local MB indy shop.

At this point, your friend doesn't "know" that they need a new trasmission, but Sun Valley New Mercedes Parts sells rebuilt 722.6 transmissions for $2750. They can be reached at 818 768 8667.

Hi, Allen. Welcome aboard, please click the user cp link and update your profile for vehicle and location as that is useful information.
You've discovered one of the serious design flaws in the later model MBs. The Transmission Control Module (the brain for the transmission) is unsealed and under the center console. Liquids wreak havoc; if you only spilled a lighter liquid like water, you may be able to save the part by disassembly and drying it out, if not the part alone is several hundred bucks. At any rate, here is the link to a good DIY on it: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w208...e-removal.html
Disconnect the battery before you start, and that will reset things while you're working. Remove it, dry it out thoroughly (blow it dry with canned air), then leave it out overnight. If you spilled something other than water, go to Radio Shack and pick up a can of electrical contact cleaner and hose it down good, then let stand overnight. After it's all reconnected you can leave the console partially disassembled, then reconnect the battery and start it up, do the reset dance and then go for a quick drive. If that resolves it, you can make the console all pretty again, say a quick prayer of thanksgiving and send me a Starbucks gift card.
Seriously, I hope drying it out resolves the issue.
gregs210, Thanks! One other small question...when I disconnect the battery, will anything lock when I reconnect it that I will need passcodes for (i.e nav system, radio, etc...)?
