Mirror turn signal lights

Have any of you ever replaced one of the turn signal bulbs in the mirror? I stopped by a Benz body specialist here in Tampa to ask them for quick instructions as to what I needed to pull apart to get to a bulb that was not lighting up. He began to pull the mirror apart and I could'nt believe how involved it was. It took him about 20 minutes. Had I tried to figure it out I'm certain that I would have broken something. He did not charge me but gave him a 20 anyway.

I think mine has a tab on the end to possible pull on to get to the bulb, never had to replace one though, its an 02, maybe a design change?

That's what the guy at the shop said. He said the mirror bulb on the newer models are simple to get to. On mine, he had to remove a metal clip and remove the glass mirror piece, unscrew 4 small bolts holding the cover, carefully remove the entire cover off, then remove a plastic assembly holding the 3 bulbs from the cover, and finally remove the invidual mount holding the bulb to replace it. Then reassemble the opposite way. I said to him, "It's not like this vehicle is a space shuttle or anything".... Crazy!
